Prinergy 5 is for real…

by admin on July 4, 2008

Well they showed at the GUA forum and at DRUPA so this is not really a news flash. I have been chatting off-the-record with a couple of folks at Kodak Burnaby and they are hoping to start beta in a couple of months.

Anyways, one killer feature looks to be the ability to open up PDF files and edit them. Don't know about you guys, but while Pitstop is invaluable, you can never have too many tools at hand to fix PDF files. Beta is coming soon. I've put in a bid to get Prinergy 5 in the shop here as a beta but if that happens that means I won't be able to blog about it (as you have to sign a NDA). And of course they would be a whole bunch of people who would have to sign off on that, including the owner of the shop (note to myself, bring donuts to meeting with the owner next week).

Nice to see that Kodak has kept the development team together and by my count, has rolled out two new revisions of Prinergy (4 and now 5) since buying up Creo.

Note: If you are a shop still running Prinergy 3 or heaven forbid, Prinergy 2, check out an earlier post on how to get upgraded to Prinergy 4.0
