Kodak and Epson get in a catfight

by admin on

You know, in my time at Creo, I was sometimes accused of needlessly picking fights. Those past accusations were most unjust, as I feel my naturally sweet disposition precludes me from making any statements of an inflammatory nature.

Except for the time that lamebrain in order processing couldn't track my Lotem Quantum that was shipping to a prepress beta site in North American. I mean, how the bleep can you lose a two-ton platemaker? But that's another story.

Last week, Epson basically came out and said Kodak inkjets suck. No wait, they were more diplomatic than that. They said that some Kodak inkjets waste two thirds of their ink.

The data comes from a study by TÜV Rheinland, whoever those guys are. And of course the study was commissioned by... guess who? Epson! Oh, I love those rascally, fun-loving tricksters.

But seriously, what are those smoking over there at Nagano, Japan? I mean, let's be frank, when you have a franchise like Epson, why dump on your competitors? Heck, in this day and age of Microsoft anti-trust suit, why even draw attention to the fact that you are part of an oligopoly that drains BILLIONS of dollars out of the pockets of business and consumer printers each year, basically because you put chips on your catridges that stop customers from using other people's ink?

Gee, do you think that Epson will lose some goodwill because of their showboating?C'mon you Epson fanboys, stand up and cheer for this much-beloved company.
