Getting Windows in the Shop: Parallel Desktop

by admin on September 8, 2008

Note to self: As soon as I get the Google Apps mail issue resolved in the shop (don't ask), I need to get Parallels Desktop approved and bought for Jackie's computer. That is all. Unless somebody would like to comment on a better alternative.

Update: Pmhapp says he's happy with Virtual box from Sun Systems, but it doesn't have PPC (it only runs on Intel). So for most of the Macs in this shop, that doesn't really work.

Better alternative? — Sun VirtualBox
Free! Stable! Seamless mode works with dual monitors! Love it. Have tried Parallels and VMWare. Those two were a hassle, VirtualBox makes it okay to run Windows on a Mac.

It doesn’t matter either way you won’t be able to run windows at all on a PPC Mac. Both progrmas require an Intel Mac. I use Parallels, and by the suggestion of the previous comment tried VirtualBox. I think Parallels is a little more polished. But VirtualBox did work fine and it is free. I didn’t spend much time with VirtualBox as I am very busy these days. Just installed windows again on the Macbook. This Virtual Machine stuff is pretty cool indeed. No more worries about fouling up a partition.
