I’ve identified 5 Windows workstations & servers in the shop that need to be backed up and preferably backed up as a cloned image disk. That is to say, day-to-day backups of the data are covered (somewhat) but what I really want is a central server that stores ghosted images of each server.
So when (not if) a hard drive fails in any one of the servers, I can pop in a new hard drive and restore the cloned image from the central server.
Anybody using this type of software? What are people using in their shops?

With so many different types of hardware, etc., I ultimately went for vmware…
I am not using it for Prinergy yet but would love to…..
I have had the experience in doing the exact thing with the Spire RIP which comes with Ghost loaded on the Install DVD and has the options for creating/restoring the ghosted OS on dvd’s (usually one or two only).
Safe to say it has saved my bacon quite a few times now as the damn RIP seems to loose its colour management functionality on a regular three month basis.
Bring on proper cloned backups through Prinergy - the techies have it for the base windows/Prinergy server installs so why can’t we??
While were on the subject lets just go the whole hog and have virtual servers to run Prinergy…….
Dennis.
