Yep, it's that time of year when things are slow and you look around the shop thinking, "Well, instead of twiddling the ole thumbs, maybe I should upgrade a few thingies around here, just so I look busy."
So here is some justification (or not) to convince the boss to shell out for the upgrade package:
PC Mag covers the compare feature of Acrobat 9, which might be of most use to the prepress masses.
Applelinks is all excited about the collaboration features. Could be useful with your more sophisticated clients.
Iconlogic talks about Acrobat 9 OCR capability.
Hey, should you upgrade? In the long run, do you have a choice?
Lastly, a tutorial on tracking a review in Acrobat 9. Probably a good thing to read if that's what you are using to track your (and your customer's changes).
UPDATE: Finally, a review on some features of Acrobat 9 that are really, really revelant to print professionals: Check out layersmagazine tutorial on the output preview and color conversion feature.

Would it be worth upgrading to Acrobat 9 with 1o just around the corner?
And really is Acrobat not losing ground as the creating application get better at generating decent pdfs?
Prepress folks aren’t like those sexy, glamorous premedia guys 8^}. Generally, we wait until the last minute to upgrade to the latest and greatest, unless there is a clear advantage to upgrading sooner.
Why upgrade to Acrobat 9 now? Well, usually Adobe allows users to skip a version to upgrade. Now that Acrobat 10 is around the corner, all Acrobat 7 users are pretty well forced to upgrade to version 9, or the upgrade chain is “broken.”
I have worked at shops where the upgrade chain goes back a decade, no foolin’. Like the original license was Photoshop 5 and they have used the original license to just buy upgrades all the way to CS2.
